The Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide has a new edition, and it arrived quietly enough that it's worth stating the release date plainly: Microsoft's own PDF metadata timestamps this file's creation at July 30, 2026. The cover page and the "What's new in this licensing guide?" summary box on page 2 both read August 2026, and that's the label we'll use going forward, consistent with how Microsoft names each edition after the month it reflects rather than the day it was generated.

The guide runs 90 pages, up one from July's 89. We check this edition-to-edition by comparing Appendix K's Change Log, the same page we've cited in every article in this series, against the prior edition we archived when we last checked in on July 3.

The two new entries: both Customer Insights, not F&SC

Appendix K logs exactly two entries dated August 2026, and both belong to the same application:

PageApplicationChangeStatus
72 Customer Insights New Journey Creation Agent Paid Public Preview
73 Customer Insights New Outreach Optimization Agent Paid Public Preview

Customer Insights is Microsoft's customer data and journey-orchestration application, licensed and priced separately from Finance and Supply Chain Management. Both agents enter Paid Public Preview, meaning they carry usage-based charges on top of the base Customer Insights license rather than being bundled into an existing SL tier.

Practical takeaway: if your organization runs Customer Insights alongside F&SC, the Journey Creation Agent and Outreach Optimization Agent are worth a look for your marketing or customer-engagement team, but budget for them as new preview add-ons, not as something already covered under an existing license. Neither agent appears in the Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Operations-Activity sections of the guide.

What this means if you're tracking F&SC specifically

Nothing in Finance or Supply Chain Management's entitlement tables, use rights, or security-role documentation changed between the July and August editions. Pricing for Finance ($210/$300 per user/month) and Supply Chain Management ($210/$300) is unchanged. Neither of the two logged changes touches an application this site covers day to day, which makes August the second quiet month in a row for F&SC readers specifically, even though the guide itself did pick up two genuine, dated Change Log entries this time, unlike July's zero.

AreaJuly 2026August 2026
New Change Log entries 0 2 (both Customer Insights, Paid Public Preview)
Finance / SCM pricing $210 / $300 per user/month Unchanged
F&SC entitlement tables Unchanged since June Unchanged

If you're mid-review right now, nothing you've documented against the July or August edition needs revisiting on the F&SC side. We check this guide every time we sit down to write, so if a genuinely F&SC-relevant change shows up between now and our next scheduled pass, we'll cover it on its own rather than waiting for the next monthly slot.
